2010 Mazdaspeed3 is not just for grins

November 30, 2009

Great review of one of Mazda’s new Mazdaspeed3:

Serious cars don’t grin at you like goofy Gordo in the third-grade class photo.

They snarl behind black mesh grilles. They glare through evil swept-back headlamps. They promise menace and mayhem – right up front.

Then there’s the 2010 Mazdaspeed3, which for a moment will grab you with the silliest smiling grille in the auto industry.

Don’t fall for it. This smirking front-wheel-drive psycho smiles at the thought of shredding roads with its 150-mph top speed, and it’s just waiting for some hick from Denton to prod it with its six-speed stick. (Hand me that stick, please.)

And like it or not, goofy Gordo could be the face of our muscle-car future.

I cringe as President Greenjeans and his rule-loving, tax-happy bureaucrats clamor for ever-tougher emissions standards. They are shoving the V-8-powered cars I love into oblivion – just as surely as government regulations killed the original muscle cars in the ’60s…[Full Article Here]

Rumormill: $170k BMW M3 GT/GT4 Street probably not coming to U.S.

November 3, 2009

Well..IF they do make it to U.S. soil and over to the SF Bay Area, we hope to see one come by the shop:

No three letters get Bimmer fans as riled up as CSL. The initials have historically been applied to lightweight, performance-focused versions of BMW’s most extreme machinery. But while BMW isn’t currently offering any CSL models for public consumption, the emergence of an M5 CSL and spy shots of a potential M3 CSL have Munich’s followers frothing at the mouth.

The former turned out to be a one-of-a-kind special. But details on the latter are beginning to circulate, and they look promising. Firstly, sources suggest that the model won’t wear the CSL designation at all, and instead be labeled either M3 GT or M3 GT4 Street, in reference to the homologated racing version.
